Scenicus

A female Salticus scenicus, the zebra jumping spider. Bronze with black glass eyes. Tiny petal-like setae cover her body, making the striped patterns that give this species their common name. “Scenicus” also means “showy,” reflecting the astonishing tendency of these millimeters-long animals to look up at humans and wave their pedipalps as if to say, “Hello!” Her large front-facing eyes give her excellent visual acuity and the depth perception necessary to hunt and leap on prey without the use of a web.
First edition: Seven cast bronze pieces, eight black glass spheres.
